29th October 2018:

Our Halloween pumpkin carving event was a huge success and 'Fantastic, the best ever' (Cllr Julie Reid)

The photo booth was very well received, and will be making more appearances!

22nd June 2017:

We just got awarded £5,000 funding from One Manchester Community Soup! - Thank you to everyone involved in setting up the event that we hosted last night, and thank you to everyone who came along to listen to the project pitches and supported us!

This money will be used for phase 1 of The Composting Toilets project (click the ling to find out more)

16th July 2016:

We have just held our regular stall at our neighbour's Summer Fair, what a great day! - Lots of support from the local community for The Donkey Sanctuary, and lots of fun and attractions for all.

1st May 2016:

We have spotted the first egg in one of our monitored bird-boxes! - Our Bird-Box TV has been set up in The Trading Shed for the last few months.  We have 4 monitored boxes, and we have been keenly watching nests being built in 2 of them for the last month or so. This morning we noticed the first egg in one of the boxes! Pictures and video clips will be available shortly from a new page on the website.

2nd November 2015:

We had lots of spooky fun and games at our Halloween Pumpkin-Making Workshop last week! - a record number of our community friends turned up in fancy dress and helped make the evening as spooktacular as ever! - pictures are available on the Halloween page.

We made a start on clearing and de-choking the wildlife pond at the Donkey Sanctuary last week too.  With help from Matt Holker (Manchester Ecology Unit), we have removed a lot of the overgrowth from around the pond, and the excess weed from within the pond.  This should allow for the wildlife to flourish in this excellent habitat, which we will investigate and monitor during future Go Wild events.

6th September 2015:

GHS entered a float into Gorton Carnival Parade and hosted a stall on Debdale Park as part of the Gorton Carnival Celebrations this year.  We had an excellent response to our float (Pics HERE) - watch this space for next years (bigger and better) Float!!

2nd June 2015:

We are proud to announce that today we received the very great honour of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service - in recognition and appreciation of the work carried out by all our volunteers.

4th December 2014:

Work is underway on the Trading Shed, renovating the counter and kitchen areas, and building a new office.  Any help would be greatly appreciated - there is a lot to do over the next few weeks!!!
